Project: Bronte Apartment 2024
Architect: Luke Durack Architects
Style: Modern
The owners of this apartment had their adult children slowly move out of their current home, and with only the youngest one left at home, they decided it was time to downsize and minimise the maintenance associated with a large family home.
On seeing this 3-bedroom property opposite Bronte Beach in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, with sweeping views through to Bondi Beach, the owners immediately knew this was the apartment for them.
The apartment had remained almost untouched since the original build in the 1970’s, so a full renovation was required to both upgrade the apartment and to suit the owner’s taste.
The renovation completely modernised the apartment and included newly configured bathrooms, removing the kitchen wall to allow open plan living and the change of a balcony window to a sliding door.
Extensive engineering was required, including new beams to allow the enlarging of the balcony openings.
Features of the renovation include soundproof parquetry flooring throughout, marble bathrooms, inlaid rugs at the entrance, Gucci wallpaper in the bathrooms, American Oak timber panelling and bespoke joinery and leather bedhead and a state-of-the-art smart home technology system.
The apartment also boasts a lighting system on par with any art gallery which allows the owners to showcase artwork they have carefully curated over the years.
It was a pleasure to work on this project and wonderful to see the owners enjoying their new lifestyle.
